Three of the Rebbe’s shluchim — from Cyprus and Athens — received special recognition at a festive evening organized by the Ministry of Heritage, led by Minister Amichai Eliyahu, for the extraordinary assistance they provided to Jews in the Diaspora during the recent war.
During the event, an emotional film was screened about the activities of the shluchim, where they described the moments of drama and their nonstop support for tens of thousands of Jews. When the Rebbe himself appeared on the screen, the thousands of participants erupted in enthusiastic applause.
The honored shluchim were:
Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hendel, the Rebbe’s shliach in Athens
Rabbi Yitzchak Eisenbach, the Rebbe’s shliach in Paphos, Cyprus
